I looked into one of the most exclusive streetwear brands Supreme, this brand uses the font Futura for there logo typeface. Supreme was founded in 1994 by James Jebbia, This brand started out as a streetwear/skateboarding clothing company and have ever since been growing more and more calibrating with brands such as The North Face, Stone Island and Nike. There logo is seen everywhere within there clothing lines and the basic font used reflects in the basic clothing designs they release. This clothing brand is also heavily influenced by the artist Barbara Kruger. I want to design a typeface similar to supremes that serves the same purpose being seen on clothes and other items.

Barbara Kruger artist research
I looked into the art of Barbara Kruger an American conceptual/pop artist, what appealed to me was her bold and simplistic messages it gave across in the typefaces she used and the art itself. Throughout her work it follows the same rule using only 3 colours within her work black, white and red. The images used in her work have a heavy influence from the 50’s and 60’s adverts. The typeface she uses is an italic Futura font, I want to take this font and use elements of it in my own typeface as i feel it is a great example of a bold but simplistic font.
Free Hand Typography Practice
Within the workshop i practiced drawing out a font free hand in preparation for drawing out my own font. I found it very time consuming and quite a trial and error approach to making my type. However i have decided that i am going to design my typeface out free hand first and then scan it in and trace it on illustrator in order to get the best results.
Typography Within Lincoln
In workshop one I went around Lincoln and took pictures of different type faces for inspiration and to get an idea of the different types that surround us on a day to day basis.
