I wanted to keep my business card as simple and bold as possible. I went with a white front and black back for the background colours giving a good contrast between the two sides. I used the standard propaganda text for the front and ‘Avinuir bold’ for the information on the back as its easier to read when printed small. Instead of stating what each bit of information is i used symbols as these are being seen more and more on mobile phones and in every day situations i also felt it looked cleaner. to make the text and titles stand out i applied a dashed box along with a pair of scissors to add a comical look to the card and hint that it is a barber business card.

Hair Pot Design Mockup
When making my beard hair wax pot i decided to use the wood blended version of my logo as i felt it appealed better to the eye. I wanted to use simple lines and shapes to build up the design to reflect on the logo itself. I like the two circles surrounding the logo as i feel it brings it out more and will help to make the product stand out on a shelf. I changed the text on the pot as i felt its much easier to read and once again stands out more. On the side i didn’t want to over fill it with text so i went with a couple quotes and important information a customer would want to know from just glancing at it on a shelf. The images are not to0 exact size but i have added dimensions to show what size i want the product to be made by. On the side would also include other additional information like what the wax has in it etc.
Font Testing
Here i have selected 6 of my favourite fonts and placed them against my final logo to see what worked better against each other. they all follow a fairly similar style relating back to text seen within the first/second world war, late 50s and 60s. I felt number 6 worked best as it fits in with the overall style of the logo and is very similar to propaganda text used on posters during the war.
Final Design Le Barbe Magnifique
When adding the final touches to my final design i wanted to show the history and retro style coming through from my inspirations. By doing this i saved my second design and placed it into photoshop. From there on i selected a rough texture, i played with some rough paper, walls and wood. i went with wood as it fitted with my design the best. By blending the two images i placed the wood image behind the logo and selected ‘multiply’ on the side bar giving me a half and half opacity image giving the overall logo an aged look.
here is my design process from start to finish:
here is a showcase of the different colours i experimented with before applying the texture. I went with number 6 in the end as it related best with the research behind my idea and i felt suited the logo the most.
